Waterfront Parks System

Big Green

Today, we have 1.5 miles of continuous shoreline, spanning from Lennar’s Northside Park to the Port’s Heron’s Head Park. Within this stretch of shoreline, a number of individual parks, trails and open space initiatives are taking place – all in different phases of development.  As such, we have a rare opportunity to plan on a larger scale, one that not only provides very necessary waterfront access for the BVHP community but also has the potential to be a new legacy park for San Francisco and regional destination – A Crissy Field of the South East.

Affordable Housing

BUILD is still determining the affordable housing plan at India Basin. However, BUILD is fully committed to providing affordable housing and will meet or exceed affordable housing standards.

Arts Program

Public art and installations will be an important part of the fabric at the India Basin site. BUILD intends to create permanent space for artists to live and work at India Basin to support and will likely contract from local artists/artisans for fabrication of pavilions and structures.

Open Space

The signature open space features of the project are the Big Green and Shoreline. Areas for events, active recreation and play are interwoven with a network of trails, foot-paths and boardwalks, amongst earthworks, wetlands, constructed habitat and native landscape – together offering a full and varied experience of the Bay environment, views and microclimates

Child Care

The site will provide 2 on-site child care facilities and will be operated by a trusted local operator.
